Top Ten Tuesday - Worth the Hype?

Hello, dear readers! Today's Top Ten Tuesday prompt from That Artsy Reader Girlis Books I Read or Avoided Because of the Hype. I've linked each title below to my review of the book, just in case you're interested. Happy Tuesday!

👍 It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover - WORTH THE HYPE? Yes! I've been in Lily's shoes before, so this book brought all the feels. I loved it.

❓ It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover - WORTH THE HYPE? Sorta. I expected more from this book, but it just felt like a lot of repetition from the first one.

👍 The Women by Kristin Hannah - WORTH THE HYPE? YES! Kristin could've written Old McDonald Had a Farm, and I would've read it and loved it. She's amazing.

👍 Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens - WORTH THE HYPE? Yes! This is one of those situations where I loved the movie too (and that rarely happens).

👍 Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros - WORTH THE HYPE? Yes! I'm not really into the whole fantasy genre, but this one pleasantly surprised me.

👍 Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin - WORTH THE HYPE? Yes! I've never been a gamer, so I went into this thinking I wouldn't like it, but it's actually very good.

👍 The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid - WORTH THE HYPE? Yes! Evelyn Hugo is such a badass heroine. I loved her.

❓ Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid - WORTH THE HYPE? Not really. I didn't care for the interview type of writing in this book. The movie was much better.

😡 Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult - WORTH THE HYPE? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! I threw this book across a room, if that tells you anything.

👍 The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab - WORTH THE HYPE? ABSOLUTELY! This is one of my all-time favorite books. Highly recommended.

  3. The only book from your list I haven’t read is the Picoult one LOL.

Daisy Jones works better as series and how could I forget to add The Women to my list? LOL.

  4. Daisy Jones was a DNF for me. The only reason I gave it a try was the hype. It's turned me off from giving any of TJR's other books a try.

  5. This is my most favorite TTT post ever, because all of the books are ones I've either read, am actively reading, are near the top of my TBR, or were in my post for this week. I've never had that happen before. Although I really hope I don't wanna throw Mad Honey when I read it, because I have it as an ebook so I don't wanna throw my device. - Katie

  6. I have heard of quite a few of these but haven’t been interested enough to read them.I really dislike when a book in a series is more of a repeat of other books. Unless I’m jumping in the middle or something, it’s just not necessary.

I keep seeing positive feedback on The Seven Husbands. I think I’ll put that on my maybe someday mental list.

Would love to hear your thoughts on my Top Ten post!

  7. I love Kristin Hannah, too. I bought a copy of THE WOMEN when it came out, but I haven't read it yet. Hopefully soon.

MAD HONEY is definitely an interesting book. I'm a Picoult fan, so I picked it up expecting one thing, but that twist in the middle took the story in an entirely different, unexpected direction. If I had known the subject matter, I probably wouldn't have read the book at all, just because it's not an issue I'm interested in reading about.

EVERYONE talks about Colleen Hoover's books, but I've avoided them so far. My DIL tells me I won't like them and I tend to think she's right...

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    1. Totally agree with you about Mad Honey. If I had known the subject matter I wouldn't have picked it up either. Colleen's book are hit or miss with me. I loved It Ends with Us and Verity, but her others I could take or leave. Happy Wednesday!

  8. The only one of these that I've read is The Women, but I totally loved it. I've got The Fourth Wing on my TBR list. :D
